U13B = U13AA, Tier III
U15A = U15AA, Tier II
U15B = U15AA, Tier III
U18A = U18AA, Tier II
U18B = U18AA, Tier III
FU13B = FU13AA, Tier II
FU13C = FU13AA, Tier III
Deadline to Qualify
All regular season games played on or before January 15th are the qualifying games for the HRI Provincial Playdowns.
Who Qualifies
The top four (4) teams in each eligible division qualify for the HRI Playdowns for Provincials, based on points percentage. Points percentage is calculated by dividing Points by the Number of Games Played. All regular season games count, including those against associate teams (Prairie Storm, Lumsden, etc)
For FU13C, there are only two teams - so they will skip to the Round 2 format below. The Regina representative has historically advanced directly to provincial final against Saskatoon; however, this will be pending if any other "AA" teams register.
For FU13B, the Rebels, being the only Regina team will historically automatically advance to the provincial final against Saskatoon, this will be pending if any other "AA" community teams register.
What is the Format
There are two rounds of Playdowns in each eligible division
Round 1:
1st vs 4th & 2nd vs 3rd in a two-game total goal series.
The lower-seed is the home team in the first game and the higher-seed is the home team in the second game. If the total goals is tied at the end of the second game, Teams will play sudden death, 20-minute stop time in a three on three format with goalies in.
Round 2:
Winner of the two first round series in a modified best of three series.
The lower-seed is the home team in the first game and the higher-seed is the home team in the second (and third if necessary).
If the teams split the two games (or tie both games), then a 10-minute Mini-Game will be played. The Mini-game will not be sudden death; it will be played in a three on three format with goalies in.
My Team Represents Regina, Now What?
You will advance to the South Final, hosting one game and playing on the road for the other. Specifics on whether we are the Home or Road team for your division this year will be shared on Hockey Saskatchewan's website after the registration deadline.
Your coach or manager will work with Darren Harris (HRI Scheduler) to request specific date(s) that work for both your team and your opponent.
The series remains the same as the HRI second-round, as a modified best of three series.
Best of luck to all teams in qualifying!
