WHL Bantam Draft
HRI congratulates the Regina players selected in the annual WHL Bantam Draft held May 2.
In total, there were 221 players drafted, with 37 players from Saskatchewan selected.
Congratulations to the five HRI players drafted:
+ Brandon Griffiths v Defence, 145th overall to Prince Albert Raiders
+ Parker McCormick v Forward, 163rd overall to Tri-City Americans
+ Chaseton Sare v Forward, 170th overall to Spokane Chiefs
+ Kye Steinke v Goalie, 178th overall to Prince George Cougars
+ Caleb Griffen v Forward, 247th overall to Seattle Thunderbirds
Also congratulations to the seven HRI Associate players drafted:
+ Jared Legion (Prairie Storm) v Forward, 9th overall to Kootenay Ice
+ Jeff Faith (Lumsden) v Defence, 16th overall to Spokane Chiefs
+ Nolan Reid (Lumsden) v Defence, 41th overall to Saskatoon Blades
+ Taylor Ross (Prairie Storm) - Forward, 82nd overall to Spokane Chiefs
+ Jared Dmytriw (Lumsden) v Forward, 83rd overall to Victoria Royals
+ Damien Bentz (Lumsden) v Forward, 193rd overall to Saskatoon Blades

For those that did not have their names called today, there are many great players that were never drafted such as 2-time Stanley Cup winner Chris Kunitz (Anaheim Ducks and Pittsburgh Penguins), Tyler Bozak (Toronto Maple Leafs) and World Junior player JC Lipon, all from Regina. Keep in mind that about 50% of the players in the WHL were not drafted into the league but listed later.
