Presidents message to HRI Officials

Welcome to all registered Hockey Regina Officials for the 2017-2018 Hockey Regina season.  This season will mark the first season that Hockey Regina will be scheduling and assigning officials.   I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Regina Hockey Officials Association and especially Don McMillan who has worked with Hockey Regina throughout the many years.
 

Hockey Regina will be scheduling additional On Ice sessions for the following dates for new officials and second year officials.  All first and second year officials will be required to attend a mandatory on ice session prior to games being scheduled. These are the following dates.

September 30th    1830pm-1930pm     C4
October 4th        1830pm-1930pm        C6
November 12th    1815pm-1915pm        C5

There will be many changes and challenges throughout the season which includes a new website for officials.  Hockey Regina will continue to work through the new website and work with our website provider to enhance the experience of all of our officials.

Although, the changes will provide some challenges to get accustomed to the many differences, Hockey Regina is fortunate to have Assignor Shaun McKenzie to assist with the transition.  Shaun is very familiar with the officials and has been a tremendous asset throughout the years in managing the workload for the season.

Hockey Regina has organized an Officials Committee which will be an independent committee that will oversee the policies and regulations, supervision and discipline.  The committee members are Rachielle Thackeray, Dave Oates, JP Suwala, Ken Buhnai, Kurtis Lindskog and will be chaired by the Director of Officials which is presently absent.  In the absence of the director, Larry Wees will be acting chair.

Supervision and Development of young officials will be a continued focus throughout the 2017-2018 season.  The committee will be identifying Official Supervisors that will work in conjunction with SHA to provide supervision to grass roots officials.  If you are interested in Supervising please contact one of the committee members.

Hockey Regina will continue the practice of monthly meetings to assist in communication and education of rules, practises and policies.  The monthly meetings will be in the Sillingers lounge at the Cooperators Centre.

Hockey Regina will be transitioning to monthly pay for officials through direct deposit into your personal account.  Officials that are registered with Hockey Regina will be required to provide Hockey Regina with the appropriate information on the attached document.  The pay for September evaluations will be paid by Cheque and sent out to the officials.
