U9 & U11 Pre Skates: Hockey Regina offers all players registered in U9 and U11 three (3) pre skate opportunities. These skates are not evaluated and are intended to get young players on the ice prior to being evaluated and introduce players to the drills they will be doing in their evaluation sessions.
Check-in to these sessions is not required and players are to bring their own jerseys for them.
Evaluation Technology: Hockey Regina is excited to be partnering with SkillShark, an evaluation and reporting software. With this technology, all evaluations will be nameless. Furthermore, only independent evaluators will be utilized for player evaluation. While it is expected that most named and shortlisted coaches will attend evaluation sessions, they are not part of formal player evaluation.
Independent evaluators are not to be approached or engaged during an evaluation session and will not, at any time, discuss evaluations with parents or players.
Further reducing the opportunity for potential bias and as is consistent from last year, no socks, pant shells or helmet stickers identifying previous non-HRI teams or AA teams are to be worn by players.
Evaluation Session Check-In: At each evaluation session (time trial, goalie session, skill session or scrimmage) a check-in table will be outside the dressing room entrance to the rink your session is in. Check-in at the check-in table at every evaluation session is required. Note: that players must check-in at the table (not in the TeamLint app).
At the first session, players will be provided an evaluation jersey they will use for all evaluation sessions and return to the check-in table upon the completion of the final evaluation session of that tier. At the check-in table, players headshot picture will also be taken, this is included in the player's evaluation report, which is provided to the primary contact/parent (contact 1) in TeamLinkt within 48 hours of the completion of the tiers team formation process.
This report will outline the players final evaluation rating, rank and other information related to the specific evaluation tier. Below on this webpage, a chart identifying the tier evaluation group results will be posted for reference to interpret the report information.Time Trials: For the first time, time trials are being utilized at the U9 and U11 age divisions. All players in a tier will complete time trials together and multiple jersey colours will be on the ice at once. Note that the HRI issued evaluation jersey are required for these sessions, same as other evaluation sessions. Time trials are being held at both the Cooperators and Al Ritchie, check your TeamLinkt app for the location of your specific session.
Hockey Regina was pleased to be able to provide Evaluation Schedules for all division and tiers (excluding U7) in early August and ongoing as new players have registered for the upcoming hockey season.
As we enter evaluations, there will be times where members will lose access to teams on TeamLinkt, as division and tier evaluations conclude.
Hockey Regina's intent is that all players who have evaluated in the tier that has completed will be removed from their evaluation teams and returned to a "Pending Team" status on your app. At the completion of the Team Formation (Draft or Team Assignment), all players will receive an email from TeamLinkt with their next team (either a Team Roster for the season, or the subsequent tier Evaluation Team).
Note: If your athlete did not evaluate at a prior tier and has already been placed on an evaluation team at the subsequent tier (For Example: Did not evaluate for U11A, registered directly into U11 B/C/D), you will receive another TeamLinkt email that your child has been added to Evaluation Team X, which in the majority of cases, will be the same team that you've planned for. Extenuating circumstances, based on positions may cause a couple players to move each tier, we will make our best efforts for the displaced players to be coming from the higher tier as opposed to having already been rostered. During the rostering process, all athletes will lose access to their schedules for the length of the Team Formation Process (up to a half day).
Should you have any questions about this process, please reach out to Kellin Enslev, Director of Hockey Operations
